DAY 1: YANGON ARRIVAL

Upon arrival at Yangon airport, our associates will meet you and help you transfer to your hotel for check-in. That evening, the tour will begin with a visit to the Shwedagon Pagoda, a grand building that rises 326 feet above its base as a monument of faith. Created more than 2500 years ago, it enshrines eight hairs of Buddha placed in a treasure chamber deep beneath the foundation of the building. This is one of the highest signs of devotion of the local people to the Buddhist faith. Dinner will be enjoyed at the Karaweik Restaurant with a Myanmar Culture show designed to both excite and invite guests to the culture of the area. The night will be spent in Yangon.

DAY 2: YANGON AND PRIVATE SIGHTSEEING (B)

After breakfast at the hotel, the group will begin a highlight tour of Yangon. The tour begins by driving through the Colonial-style buildings in downtown on the way to China Town and the Indian quarter. A photo opportunity will arise at the Sule Pagoda and City hall where you can see some the varied cultures influences on city life. The tour continues with a visit to the Botathaung Pagoda close to the Yangon Wharves. Inside the pagoda is a set of mirrored surfaces that create a pseudo-maze showing many ancient relics and allowing a view from nearly all sides without having to physically touch the artifacts. After that, lunch will be served at a local restaurant before continuing the tour. In the afternoon, tour members can look forward to the varied shops and peoples in the Bogyoke (Scott) Market. This area is closed on Mondays and public holidays, be warned. When open, it has the largest selection of Burmese handicrafts possible, with a broad variety of carefully made items for your view and purchase. After the market, the tour continues to the Reclining Buddha, a massive statue that is quite famous at the Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda. The figure is almost as large as the one in Bago Shwethalyaung! Next, the tour will move toward Kandawgyi Park and have a photo opportunity with the Shwedagon Pagoda from the park. DAY (03) YANGON – BAGAN (AM FLIGHT) AND BAGAN FULL DAY PRIVATE SIGHTSEEING (BY CAR) (B)
