Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
When you arrive in Vientiane, our representative will meet you at the airport, and help you transfer to your hotel to check-in.
After lunch, you will be treated to a sightseeing tour of the most breathtaking religious museums in the area of WatSisaket. Among them is a temple that survived the Siamese war of 1828, complete with a cloister that is home to more than 8000 statues of Buddha. Also shown is the former home and temple of the Emerald Buddha statue called the PraKeo, and current home to a collection of Buddha statues and artifacts from all around Vientiane called the Wat Ho Prakeo. You will be given a chance to see the most famous and important monument in the country, That Luang Stupa. It is a stunning and beautiful monument in honor of the fight for freedom from the French. This stupa also is said to contain a piece of the Buddha’s chest bone- a unique and priceless piece of history preserved for the world to treasure. The tour will continue with the Patouxay, an arch recently constructed to commemorate those who died during the past wars and is the landmark of Vientiane.
The day will start to wind down with a visit to the National Museum to bask in the magnificent culture of the area, and finish with dinner at a local restaurant to allow you a chance to have a true taste of the culture available.
Day 2: Vientiane and Nam Ngum Lake
After a hearty breakfast, the group will head to Nam Ngum Lake for an hour-long ride on the water to take in the beautiful area with a relaxing cruise. This trip provides a panoramic view of a small island along your route, a stop to visit typical Lao villages to see the rustic way of life, and a cottage-salt factory at Ban Bor village. Another stop will be at scenic Ban Muangkeo, famous for a local rice whiskey distillery for a local favorite called Laoh-Khao.
Lunch will be provided aboard the boat, allowing you to dine with the breathtaking view of the water and all around you the sights of the area. Afterward, the tour proceeds to the Dansavanh Resort where you are given a chance to move about freely and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the resort at your leisure. This location even has a casino for those seeking a measure of excitement and lively fun. Dinner is offered at the resort, where the night will conclude.
Day 3: Dansavanh Resort
Following a chance to wake and enjoy breakfast, the tour resumes by returning to Vientiane. On the way, we will visit the Ban Thalat Market and the Van Sang archeological site. These stops allow you to see the local wares and enjoy the vibrant culture in a thriving marketplace. The archeological site has discovered ancient images dating back to the 11th or 12th century. A historical marker with insight into nearly a millennium ago!
Lunch will be had within Vientiane, followed by another cultural wealth. The tour moves on to visit WatXiengkouane Buddha Garden, a melding of both Buddhist and Hinduism cultures in a unique display of peace and cultures. That evening, dinner will be at a local restaurant specializing in Laos’ cuisine and a traditional show to exemplify the beauty and allure of the local customs and culture.
Day 4: Departure
On this final day of your tour, we will help you after breakfast to get your affairs in order. Our team will ensure you are transferred to the airport on time, and ready to catch your departing flight with all the joyous and fun memories of a cultural experience of a lifetime.
