Landmarks and culture As soon as you arrive at the Wattai National Airport, we will meet you. From there, you will be transferred and checked into your hotel. That afternoon the tour will begin with a visit to Vat Sisaket- a beautiful and resilient temple in Vientiane built in 1818. This temple is the sole surviving monument of the Thai invasion of 1828 and a local landmark. Our tour will also visit the Ho Phrakeo, the former Royal Chapel housing a beautiful emerald Budda enshrined in an ornate and magnificent location. This establishment dates all the way back to the Lane Xang Kingdom, a state that ruled for three and a half centuries. Other notable sites to be visited are the Patouxai, A word meaning 'triumph,' and is an arch dedicated to the struggle for independence from France in the mid-20th century, and the That Luang stupa- a stunning gold-covered building in worship of Buddha. The day will conclude with a scenic view of the sunset on the Mekong River, and a visit to the night market where all sorts of shops await you with exotic sights, smells, and experiences.
