Itinerary
Day 1: Luang Prabang
When you arrive at the airport, our courteous staff will be waiting to meet you and transfer you to your hotel for check-in. That afternoon, we will visit the scenic Vat Mai Temple, a residence of a Buddhist patriarch until 1975. This grand home precedes a climb up Phousi Hill for a stunning view over the former royal capital and the majestic view of the Mekong River. The sunset along this river is a sight to behold, and you will get a closer view at Vat Phabath Tai. You will be able to spend time along the river in the H’Mong market immersed in local culture and cuisine as you stay overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 2: Luang Prabang and Pak Ou
Following a restful breakfast, the tour will go on a 2 hour cruise up the scenic Mekong River to Pak Ou at the connection of two rivers. This unique view is the location of a sacred set of caves. Here you will find the historic Tham Ting and Tham Phoum, the home of hundreds of Buddha statues. On the journey to these sights, the tour will visit Xang Hai village where the locals distill sticky rice wine, a local delicacy. The return to the city will be done via a road to Ban Xang Khong weaving village where guests can see the production of local mulberry leaf paper. The night again will be spend in vibrant Luang Prabang.
Day 3: Luang Prabang and Vientiane
After a hearty breakfast, the tour takes a turn toward the breathtaking Khouang Sy Waterfalls by road. This incredible sight is located deep in a lush tropical forest, offering vibrant and gorgeous sights. Afterward, the tour returns to Luang Prabang to stop at the National Museum; a focal point for both history and culture in what was formerly the royal palace. The collection is punctuated by the stunning artifacts from the Lao Royal Family. After this immersion in culture, the tour heads to the temple of Vat Xieng Thong, widely regarded as the most beautiful temple in all the area. The buildings are recognized for their low sweeping roofs, and unique architecture. The day is again ended with an overnight stay in Luang Prabang.
Day 4: Luang Prabang and Vientiane
This day starts a bit slower with breakfast and some free time to enjoy the area at your leisure. Later in the morning, we will help you transfer over to the airport for a quick flight to Vientiane where we will also help you settle and check-in to a new hotel. The afternoon is punctuated with visits to Vat Sisaket, the only remaining original temple in all of the city after the Thai invasion of 1828. Other sights include the Ho Phrakeo, the former Royal Chapel where an Emerald Buddha from the Lane Xang Kingdom sits enshrined, as well as the Patouxai and That Luang Stupa. That evening, the tour will stay overnight in Vientiane.
Day 5: Vientiane
On the final morning, we will again give you a chance to enjoy breakfast in the rich cultural area one more time before helping you back to the airport for your departure.
