Vietnam Catholic & Southeast Asia
Roman Catholicism is the oldest form of Christianity in Vietnam which spread at the beginning of the 16th century since Vietnam began trading with Western countries such as Portugal, Holland,Britain,France and Japan in Asia to exchange goods and military weapons.
It arrived at the coast of Vietnam in 1533 when spreading missionaries around the world, including the Far East of Asia. The influence was strengthened when Vietnam was a French colony.
During this time The Jesuits, who were the most active ideologues of Western enlightenment is the prime of their exploratory efforts. Others prominent, like Francisacans, Dominican, never reached the influence of Jesuits.
The Jesuits was determined to further faith of the Roamn Catholic Church in Southeast Asia and having arrived in 1627 to develop their activities in many fields. Their prominent activities were helped by printing of the first Bible in 1651, and the growing influence of several individuals, who were welcomed in certain powerful circles.
In the 17th century, an alphabet for Vietnam Language was created by Jesuit missionary Alexandre de Rhodes (who was admitted to the Societ of Jesus) from Latin script. Nowadays, it is the official writing system referred to as Quốc Ngữ (or, "National Language") which was perfected by Alesandre de Rhodes as our Vietnamese Language .
From 16th century until now, There are 118 Vietnamese martyrs. Specially there are five holy lands of pilgrimage of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Vietnam:

- Our Lady of Tra Kieu – Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam
- Our Lady of La Ma - Ben Tre, Vietnam
- Our Lady of Ta Pao – Phan Thiet, BinhThuan, Vietnam
- Our Lady of Mang Den - Kon Plong, Kontum, Vietnam
